Description

Beautiful historic 1903 lake cottage that was completely renovated and expanded in 2015. Fantastic sunsets from the porch, decks, or pier on Sunset Point on the Island in Winona Lake, an  all-sports lake with great fishing, too! Kayaks and bikes at the property. Bring your own water toys and tie-up at our dock. Swim off the dock or go to the town beach, splash pad, and park which is only walking distance. Use the bikes on the great trails through the Boys Club. Excellent mountain bike trails there, too! Two excellent golf courses only 10 minutes away. Wonderful restaurants and coffee just two blocks walking distance.
 
Two car garage and extra parking spot for truck, trailer, or guests. Outdoor fire pit and BBQ on the patio overlooking the lake. 
 
Absolutely stunning master suite with loft ceiling, large jacuzzi tube with walk-in shower. Toilette also equipped with a bidet. Hot tub on the master deck.
 
Cathedral guest room has private balcony and bistro set for enjoying “couple time”.
 
Old master bedroom has bay window and seating area for two and tastefully decorated with antiques. 
 
Downstairs couch pulls out into a bed for two for the adventuresome and the studio room set up with bunks beds for extra sleeping arraignments.
 
Relax by the lake, play on the water, stroll or bike on the Island, enjoy the park and splash pad, enjoy home cooking and barbecue with the fully stocked kitchen, or dine at wonderful nearby restaurants, watch amazing sunsets, and make memories that will last a lifetime!

About the Owner

About Alan Hoover Retired Air Force fighter pilot, test pilot, and Southwest Airlines Captain, I grew up in Kokomo, and water skied on Winona Lake as a kid. My wife and I split our time between Arizona (where we have horses) and Indiana (where we have grandkids). I race biplanes at Reno, NV at the National Championship Air Races. My wife owned a weaving shop in The Village of Winona before she retired. Alan Hoover purchased this House in 2010 Why Alan Hoover chose Winona Lake Two of ours sons married sisters from Winona Lake and when the opportunity came to buy the house on the water next to my best friend from high school, it was a win-win situation. In 2013 we decided to remodel the house because you cannot replace the view from Sunset Point. We were awarded "House of the Year, 2015" when it was finished. What makes this House unique Fabulous sunsets, incredibly friendly people, awesome community, great activities and outdoor areas and lake to play in, make this a wonderful place to build memories!

The Hoover family were great hosts and the property was great for our party of 13. The Winona Lake community is a great small town feel and super friendly residents. The location of the rental and access to the lake could not have been better. The house was updated with all you could ever need! Will be back next year.

We had an amazing time at Lake Winona. The home was beautiful and so comfortable for our entire family. The home is furnished with everything you need to cook and entertain. Very comfortable & clean. Rooms were comfortable and all the furnishings were top notch. The views & sunsets are AMAZING!! The dock had plenty of room for our fishing boat and our large pontoon. My favorite part was sitting on the dock watching the sun go down. So peaceful! Alan was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we need. He also offered to let us use his two bikes that were at the home which was great to tour the little town. He also recommended a couple really good restaurants that we really enjoyed. Noa Noa Wood Grill & Sushi Bar was amazing!! The weather did not cooperate for us but we still enjoyed boating, knee boarding and tubing on the gloomy days. It would sprinkle but it wasn’t enough to keep us off the water. We will definitely book again. Looking forward to it! Thank you to Alan & his wife for creating this little piece of paradise!

This was an excellent venue for gathering with our 2 married children and 5 grandchildren. All of them loved the house, the lake and walking distance park and shops. They all want make this repeat!
