Ruth's Jungle Hut is truly a jungle experience. This is the third cabana option after our other 2 treehouses with a more modest close-to-nature offering for those seeking a get way to a botanical garden. The queen bed is perfect for 2, and we have 2 cots we can put up 2 additional guests. Ruth's Jungle Hut is dedicated as a memorial to Ruth Mary Delay Choquette, our Mother, Benefactor and Spiritual mentor.
The space
It is outdoors and 20' up, no doors, open to nature with views of our jungle. This unique experience is complete with the occasional visit by bats, birds, geckos, or coquis (local frogs). The jungle vibe is evident the moment you enter.
Bring your prepared food and your tiki bar items. The hut is equipped with water and electricity and a tote wagon is provided to carry your personal items on the gravel path to the hut. The compost toilet, cold shower, sink and place to prepare food are on the lower level. Is not suitable for children under 6 years or pets.
Be aware, that you will awaken to rooster songs and fall asleep to a symphony of birds and frogs. Ear plugs are recommended and bring Melatonin or another sleep aid if you have a hard time falling or staying asleep. The mini-kitchen includes electric skillet, microwave oven, mini-refrig, and coffee maker. The mini-kitchen is great for re-heating already prepared food. NOT intended for cooking meals. The bathroom is more than adequate with a hot shower, vessel sink, and compost toilet. A new treehouse has been added nearby and voices may be heard through the foliage. Please be respectful of the other guests. And they've been asked to do the same. Note: Puerto Ricans love their dogs and several live close by. Please contact the Property Manager if there is excessive barking.
Guest access
Guests have access to the 5 acres of grounds landscaped with brick and flagstone walkways, terraces, rock walls & various ponds. The living space is 20' up in the air accessed by 12 stairs to the lower platform and 12 stairs to the upper deck. Please do not book this listing if you have physical limitations or are afraid of heights. A back pack or small toiletry bag is the best way to carry your necessities up the stairs.
Other things to note
Ruth's Jungle Hut is located in a dense 5-acre Botanical Garden/Jungle. Summers are 80-95 and rainy. Oct & Nov are buggy months, but the mosquito netting provides protection for sleeping. Winters are 65-80 and dryer, It can be chilly in the evenings and early mornings. Guests will want to bring warmer clothes like warm ups, socks, long-sleeve T-shirts or light jackets. Bug spray and long pants and long sleeves are advised for protection at dusk. A poncho for excursions is a good idea as well. The tropical storms are between August and December and strong weather can cause power outages. We close if winds are predicted to be over 40mph - we will advise to re-book or Cancel, we do give an inclimate weather refund of 50%.

Once in a lifetime experience. You will feel like Tarzan all surrounded by rainforest! There are also fireflies at night. Truly magical.
This spot is a magical jungle experience. I would highly recommend it!
This was our third time staying. We choose this place because it was peaceful and beautiful but this time it was way more noisy than the other times. I understand this is not the host fault. On Saturday there was loud music and the rest of the weekend there were lots of dog sounds. The place it's magical and you feel one with nature.
The treehouse was beautiful, everything we hoped for. The nature sounds at night are so relaxing. The property is beautiful, filled with fruit trees and beautiful plants. Matt was very friendly and informative.
Loved staying here for a night. I would love to come back again.
Love Janine and Matt’s tree house! If you want to be in contact with nature this is the place to be. Highly recommend it. The communication was very easy and Carmen the host was great! I would def go back!
