Loved this place set in the woods With a tree-filtered water view. Owner was helpful And have great suggestions for things to do.
What a great place to visit for the fall foliage color change and indulge in Maine seafood. The owners were very accommodating, mailing us the keys, maps to the cabin location and places of interest ahead of our arrival. We also received our security deposit promptly on our return home. We have traveled to Maine several times, varying our location up and down the coast, and prefer Boothbay Harbor. There is plenty to see and do in town (very picturesque with shops and restaurants) with all ammenities (Hannaford supermarket, banking, Radio Shack, dollar store) for the odd incidentals we needed, just outside town. We only ate out once a day (don't miss the Boat House in Boothbay) - and why would you when Mainiac's lobster ($6.95 / lb) and Pinkham's Seafood (literally everything else from the sea) provided all the fresh catch, just up Wiscasset Rd. The kitchen, although small, was well stocked, including a good sized lobster pot. We were lucky to be there during a full moon which made for delightful evenings on the deck enjoying the shimmering light on Linekin Bay. We also happened to be there during the Pumpkin Festival in Damariscotta where every street displayed truly amazing pumpkin carvings. They even host a regatta using carved out pumpkins as boats (don't miss Damariscotta River Grill). We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay, we will be back!
My wife and I stayed here for a relaxing week in late September 2017. The cabin is located on a very rustic site in the trees overlooking Linekin Bay, a short 10 minute drive from Boothbay Harbor. The description provided by owner was very accurate. We particularly enjoyed the large deck from which we had a good view of the bay thru the many huge pines, the wifi performed flawlessly, and the substantial library and videos create opportunities for book/movie lovers. The property was clean and comfortable and just what we needed for a relaxing vacation in wonderful coastal Maine. The owner was very pleasant and made the transaction very simple, while promptly responding to inquires and promptly returning our security deposit. I would highly recommend this property to others.
We liked the location of the house. It was close to downtown Booth Bay Harbor. We were able to walk down to the association beach which was just two houses away. We didn’t end up using the canoe that was provided because you needed to walk down the hill with it to the beach and there wasn’t much of a path. The house was a good size for our family of 3 and would be good for another person too. The deck is nice to sit out on and look at the water. We liked that we didn’t need to pay a cleaning fee too. The security deposit was returned quickly. Gordon was really easy to work with and very responsive. We liked that he provided some suggestions of things to do in the area beforehand too.
We had a delightful stay here. The location is ideal with a view of Linekin Bay on one side, a lake with swimming beach across the road, and a forest reserve with hiking trails a few yards up the road. It is near downtown Boothbay Harbor with its fun shops and restaurants as well as the Coastal Botanical Garden. The cottage is comfortable, well equipped and everything worked! The owner is very easy to communicate with. He answered our questions and returned our deposit promptly. We loved having morning coffee on the deck while watching birds and squirrels and lobster boats. Day trips to Penobscot Lighthouse and another to Popham Beach were highlights. We enjoyed Spinney's restaurant for its seafood and picturesque setting in Popham Beach. It was a perfect vacation.
Very private, quiet, and scenic. Spacious and big fan of long deck. Very homey and cozy indoors. They had conveniences that many people do not have at home. A great vacation experience
Stayed here the end of September, first of August 2016. Me and my husband had a great time in boothbay and enjoyed having a quite place to come back to at the end of the day. Comfortable beds, had fun sitting out on the deck reading. Took walks to the Ocean edge. We even took the canoe out that they have under the house and went canoeing one day. Beautiful place to come and visit I highly recommend it.
cottage was quintessential Maine - very comfortable for a family of 4. kitchen is small but we were able to make breakfasts and the occasional dinner. the view of the ocean from the deck with the visiting hummingbirds was wonderful. we went to the lake, barrett park to swim, and walked to Linekin Bay resort. very close to town. having wifi made the tweens happy and the whole vibe was one of relaxing and decompressing. a great stay!
With only the smell of the balsam trees, the sound of the breeze in those trees and the birds in their lofty perches to touch your senses, you would never know you were 10-12 minutes from Booth Bay Harbor Town Center and its bustling crowds of tourists. Truly a place to kick back and relax, w/o the self-imposed distractions of laptops and tablets that we purposefully left home and cell phones locked in the car glove box to use only for emergencies. How about living life as we used to enjoy it reading the newspapers, and a good book (that the cottage has plenty of) and lots of conversation over coffee at breakfast. Not bad!! The cottage has everything you need to enjoy a week or a month within easy reach and well organized.; Its beds are comfortable albeit somewhat difficult to make up and the cottage is well maintained and very clean. Its not a Best Western or a Holiday Inn, etc., its a great little home away from home; a wonderful place to get away and smell the balsams!! P.S. the Lobster at Robinsons is the best. The ferry trip and day on Monhegan Island with the short hike to the cliffs on the Eastern side of the island is not to be missed.
Nice and quiet rustic home under large trees. We loved to watch and listen to the squirrels around, and saw owls and ospreys. Kayaking on the pond close to the house was perfect, and swimming even better - the kids spent hours in the clean water which, as neighbors from the community told us, was unusually warm this summer. The house is cozy and functional; stable wifi. We recommend walking over the Indian trails to the East Boothbay general store for breakfast or great sandwiches.
If you are looking for a vacation that combines quiet relaxation and an abundance of choices for activities this is the place for you. The cabin is well appointed and comfortable for a family of four. We enjoyed hanging out on the deck and swimming in the delightfully warm pond. We also liked that we were only a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Boothbay Harbor. At the end of a busy day it was great to come back to this cool cabin, relax and take in the views of the bay. There are many games, books videos and cable TV in case there is a rainy spell. We had great weather so we didn't need them but it was good to know that we could keep the kids entertained, if needed. If we ever decide to return to this area we would come to this cabin again and we will be recommending this place to any of our friends or family who might be traveling to the Boothbay region.
Our stay in Boothbay Harbor was both exhausting and relaxing (if that's possible). This cabin was ideal for myself and my three teenage daughters, providing a cozy, inviting and tranquil location to relax between our many excursions. It was an ideal base of operations for trips from Freeport to Bangor. Ideally situated, it is only a couple of minutes from "downtown" Boothbay Harbor with quick access to all kinds of activities including whale watches and the ferry to Monhegan Island (a favorite of our many different trips). Again, the place was ideal and I, and my daughters, look forward to visiting again in the future!
It was everything we expected. It has a cozy rustic interior with a living room great for watching TV or relaxing with a book. The ocean is close by and just steps away from the cottage's stairs is a clean sandy pond that is great for kids. It was there we met our friendly neighbors. Also, it is not far from shopping and world class minature golf.
This cabin is a great getaway spot! There's a big deck that's perfect for morning coffee and reading, access to the water is a quick walk down the road, and there's plenty of space inside to hang out on a rainy afternoon. We would definitely return to the cabin on our next vacation!
My husband and I have been to the Boothbay area many times and thoroughly enjoy our vacations. This rental provided us with a wonderful week of quiet and enjoyment in ME. We are both retired and unfortunately the stairs provided a challenge for my husband, but it also gave me an opportunity to "work out" in the outdoors. The local community is very nice and we enjoyed the pond but also liked the fact that it was close to town and made most of our destinations accessible. The cabin provided all our needs even though the weather didn't always cooperate. We will certainly be back to this wonderful area and are glad to have found a place to enjoy it!
When one pictures a Maine Vacation , this is the place that comes to mind. This was our third visit to Maine but first time visiting this area. It is a very special place. We have young children and the cabin suited our needs perfectly- the bedrooms were clean and comfortable, the living area with view, fireplace and TV was great for playing games in the evening and just unwinding. The deck was the best though - it is large and overlooks the bay. We were able to BBQ everyday. So peaceful. Everyday we were down at the association beach( a five min. walk) swimming or canoeing. My kids thoroughly enjoyed it. They also enjoyed walking down to the association dock( another 5 min walk) and just watching the boats. Although the cabin is in the woods it is only about 10 min from the town - which has a lot to offer- probably one of the nicest towns in Maine. A wonderful vacation!
I was unable to stop talking about this property to anyone who would listen. Large house in the middle of the forest (though in the very safe and cosy neighborhood), on the top of the hill, the bay just few hundreds of yards away. This place has everything: all utensils (we cooked in house and went out for two or three times total), great balcony for BBQ, fireplace for the rainy day (we had one), kayak, beach chairs, all the bed stuff (you bring your linen), water in the shower is hot, all the amenities work beautifully, the laundry is better than mine for sure :). Al of us had different idea of the holidays (different age and background), and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was absolutely just like the childhood dream of having home in the woods. The lake is great, very warm, the beach is sandy, has both shade and sun and is 5 minutes away from the house. The Boothbay is cold, so be advised, you probably would not be able to swim in the ocean. This place is NOT for people with disabilities, it has high stairs. Don't expect fancy westcoast style villa, because it is not (thank God). It is a place to spend some slow quality time with those whom you love and finally have all the time in the world just to live.
My family and I have stayed in this cabin four times in the last several years, and we've been very happy with our visits. The cabin has a great location on a little hill overlooking the bay (accessed by a well-lit walkway), near the association fresh-water beach. The bedrooms are very comfortable, the living area is large & has ample seating (a large plus when my family staying at other cabins visits), and the dining area is comfortable & has a great view (and the large deck is great to eat on as well). The kitchen is very small, but had all the amenities we needed. We've stayed in 9 different cabins within a half-mile of this one over the years (I've been to Appalachee 39 of my 40 years), and we'll always keep coming back to this one because of its comfort, location, view & charm.
