The sand, the gravel and pebbles belong to the beach. - Keep the beach clean and take rubbish away when you leave. - If you smoke, take away cigarette butts. Don\'t leave them. - Choose a sun cream that is resistant to water: one drop of sun oil can contaminate a bath full of water. - Shake out beach towels, rinse equipment and clean feet and shoes from sand before you leave the beach. - Don\'t take home sand, rocks, gravel or pebble which help to prevent erosion.

If you have the time - there is no more desirable way to arrive to Sardina than on a boat across the Mediterranean Sea. The white beautiful beaches and the crystal clear turquoise waters surrounding Sardinia is an encouraging greeting that switches on you holiday mood from the first second. You can reach Sardinia by ferry from main land Italy or from Barcelona in Spain, or even from Bonifacio in Corsica. From mainland Italy you can sail to Olbia in Sardinia from Civitavecchia, Genoa, Livorno, Napoli and Piombino. You can in addition arrive to Sardinia from Palermo and Trapani in Sicily - but these particular ferries sail into Cagliari on the South end of the island. The ferryboat from Barcelona in Spain arrives into Porto Torres on the North-west side of Sardinia. This ferry crossing takes a little more than 12 hours. It departs from Barcelona in the evening hours and arrives in Sardinia between 10 and 11 the next morning.
Sardinia is not just about stunning beaches, it is also about uncontaminated natural areas, open spaces, endless opportunities for walking, trekking, cycling, climbing and other outdoor activities, a mild winter climate, unique cultural festivals, home-style cooking, good wines and warm hospitality. So, if you come to visit this great Island but don̢۪t make an effort to get around and experience a little more of what there is on offer than just the town where you arrived (or the beaches up the road) then we think you are missing out on something worthwhile.

They form a natural container for the beach and a physical barrier that protects the lagoons and ponds. Their stability depends on multiple natural factors, however human activities and uses can irreparably unbalance this equilibrium. - Do not drive on the dunes with cars or other motorised vehicles. - Do not walk on the dunes, but to the use the designated paths where present, and existing trails when not. - Do not damage the vegetation, the juniper and other plants, which hold the sand and protect the beach from the force of the wind and the sea.
